Curricular Support
Science Research is an active, vibrant, and tremendously important part of our lives, but many people, especially students, struggle to understand and feel connected to the research and it’s impacts as it happens. Trophic can help you design, implement, and share educational programming that not only allows you to fulfill your organization’s missions, but opens your research up to funding opportunities and allows your science to be shared.
Previous examples of work:
Custom, hands-on, “plug and play” watershed protection unit plan, including student monitoring of local tributaries and waterways designed to be used by science teachers in a Middle School setting.
Local farm summer camp field trip plan, designed to introduce regenerative agriculture to students at science camps through soil testing, microscopy, and other hands on activities
Professional Development
With 10 years of teaching experience and time spent as a department chair for both Science and Engineering departments, Sean can help you reach your STEM teaching goals. Whether you are a teacher in a science classroom, a scientist looking to expand your outreach skills, or a field educator who needs some curricular design assistance, Sean & Trophic Education can help.
Previous examples of work:
3D Design and printing professional development and MakerSpace curriculum design for a local library’s summer program educators
Field Reports(Coming Soon)
Field scientists do incredible and exciting work that is often overlooked. Whether you are facedown snorkeling in a creek looking for mussel beds, ice core sampling, population monitoring, or managing riparian zones, you are doing important work. The Field Reports program (coming soon) is designed to share pictures, videos, and stories of scientists actively in the field. Sean will join you on you in the field as a fly on the wall, capture photos (see Sean’s portfolio), and share your story via social media and a dedicated website. You can think of it like a National Geographic documentary, but on a smaller and more local scale. Additionally, Trophic Education will create a downloadable lesson plan to accompany your research story so that Science teachers every can use your research as an example in their classrooms.
